The Pacific Northwest

We left our beautiful home in Moscow, ID on Saturday, August 29th, 2020, and headed to a raspberry farm just north of Bellingham, Washington in the town of Lynden. Only about a 20ish minute drive to Canada, but us pesky Americans are not allowed in at the current moment. Fingers crossed that will change in the foreseeable future. We spent 11 days at Oostema Farmstead, and it was amazing. While there we took daily trips to explore the area, like Bellingham, Blaine, and other local towns and natural settings. Here the activities ranged from picking blueberries, tasting local cheese and wine made from berries (not grapes), and they were delicious. We rode our mountain bikes on several occasions, but most of all we spent time hiking around the beautiful nature the Pacific Northwest has to offer. Without boring with more words typed on the screen, below are links to photos of our activities.

11 days around Bellingham – hiking, mountain biking, exploring, eating, and drinking as the locals would, picked blueberries, Daniel even tried his hand at nighttime photography (the Moon picture) and learning some local Ecology along the way. 4 thumbs up for Bellingham

    1. Hey there Hannah, aww thank you for the kind words. Answer to your blueberry question is below.

Q: Why are the blueberries almost white?
A: Well, I believe the silverish white color is a protective outer coating that protect the berries from insects. Other fruits that may appear a slightly different color “before being picked” are grapes and plums, just to name a few.

Thank you for the question. I think the slug photos are my favorite, I had fun taking them and getting slow close to get nice detail.

      Until next time. Peace out!
